Spotlight: Magen Johnson, Community Health Education
Community Health Education debuts as a major in Fall 2014 in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, and one of the charter students to enroll in the program is Magen Johnson. Magen comes to UM-Dearborn with a bachelor's degree in Bio-Psychology (UM-Ann Arbor) and graduate work in Neuro-Pharmacology (Wayne State University).
She is returning to school for the new Community Health Education degree after having worked in a research lab for several years; Magen sees the need to educate and reach out to communities in order to make a difference. She feels that the college offers a well-rounded program given, noting that the curriculum focuses on sciences and health, as well as the economics of health care and - especially - how to teach about health-related issues to individuals and communities.
Magen's professional goal is to work in a mental health community center, to be able to educate and serve as a resource.
Welcome to UM-Dearborn and CEHHS, Magen!
